Power of Attorney Authentication

The Consulate provides Authentication of powers of attorney, drawn up in the United States to be used in Russia. A power of attorney can be certified on behalf of one or multiple Principals in the name of one or multiple Agents.

Authentication of any type of power of attorney requires Principal’s personal appearance at the Consulate. The Consul certifies Principal’s identity and mental competence.

Before documents submission to the Consulate a Principle should:

• Adjust the text of the power of attorney with the Russian institution where it will be further submitted to

• Send a copy of the power of attorney to Notary Section of the Consulate by fax. The message should also contain information on date of birth, permanent address and passport data for both a Principal and an Agent.

• Make an appointment with the Consulate for Power of Attorney Certification.

The Consulate accepts Money orders payable to the Russian Embassy. The fees are as follows:

1. Power of Attorney for Possession and/or Disposition of Property in Russia

• for  Russian citizens - $95

• for foreign citizens   - $170
   

2. Power of Attorney for Possession and/or Disposition of Vehicles

• for  Russian citizens – $70
• for foreign citizens   - $120
   

3. Power of Attorney for Collecting Pensions on Behalf of Senior Citizens - $10

4. Power of Attorney for Handling of Incoming Mail and Parcels, Power of Attorney for Handling of Bank Deposits and Authentication of Transferred Powers of Attorney.

• for  Russian citizens – $35
• for foreign citizens   - $40

 5. Other types of Special Powers of Attorney

• for  Russian citizens – $50
• for foreign citizens   - $100

Signature Authentication

The Consulate provides Signature Authentication for documents that don’t conflict with Russian Legislation. During Signature Authentication the Consul certificates identity of an Applicant. Please note that in compliance with Article 80 of the Fundamental Principles of the Russian Federation on Notary, the Consul authenticates the signature only and not credibility of the facts stated in the document.

Before appearance in the Consulate an Applicant should:

• send a copy of the document by fax to Legal Section
• make an appointment with the Consulate for  Signature Authentication

The fee for Signature Authentication is as follows:

• for Russian citizens - $30

•  for foreign citizens  - $45
